2025 – Ten years of Making listening safe
2025 marks ten years since the launch of the Make Listening Safe (MLS) initiative. To commemorate this milestone and shape its future direction, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will jointly host the Consultation on the Make Listening Safe Initiative 2025, from 1 to 3 July 2025 at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
This hybrid meeting will bring together a diverse group of invited stakeholders from across sectors to reflect on the initiative’s progress over the past decade, share experiences, and define priorities for the next phase of work. The programme will include plenary sessions, thematic working groups, and cross-sectoral engagement, all aimed at advancing global efforts to prevent hearing loss through safe listening practices.
Expected Outcomes
- Reflect on progress over the past decade of the Make Listening Safe initiative.
- Help define priorities and guide the next phase of global action.
- Contribute to strategies for implementation across personal audio devices, esports and gaming, music, events, schools, and research.
- Strengthen cross-sectoral partnerships.
- Identify practical steps to amplify and implement safe listening strategies worldwide.
