Bolivia receives support from the Korean government

21 May 2020

The Republic of Korea is helping Bolivia to reinforce its response to the COVID-19 epidemic by re-purposing more than half a million USD from its donation to a project originally aimed at reducing inequality gaps in Bolivia and to reach universal health coverage. This project is being implemented by KOICA, the Korean Agency for International Cooperation, with technical assistance of PAHO/WHO. The repurposed funding will enable the country develop national strategies related to COVID-19, as well as receive urgently needed personal protective equipment and laboratory kits. Korea will also increase its humanitarian assistance by USD 300.000, to be used by Bolivia's Health Ministry to strengthen the national health networks and the capacity to care for COVID-19 patients. In the spirit of solidarity, Korea will also share with Bolivia its own knowledge and experience in combatting COVID-19, as a gesture of demonstrating how countries join forces across the globe to respond to the pandemic.
