The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has supplied of 1000 face protectors, 300 protective goggles and 100 N-95 masks to the National Institute of Public Health (INSPI) to support the protection of health workers in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
Front line health workers face an increased risk of contracting COVID-19 and PAHO’s donation of protective equipment is a key element of keeping them safe and stepping up the fight against the virus.
The National Influenza Centre (CNI) of INSPI is part of the National Influenza Centres, together with the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centres (CC). In addition, Essential Regulatory Laboratories and Reference Laboratories are part of the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS), coordinated by the WHO Global Influenza Programme.
On the occasion of the donation, PAHO pledged continued support to Ecuador during the current pandemic.
