New tool protects maternal-perinatal health during COVID-19

19 May 2020

PAHO launches new SIP COVID-19 software tool to help medical providers monitor and protect the health of pregnant women and their newborns during COVID-19. The Perinatal Information System (in French: Le systéme d’information perinatal (SIP)) is based on 40 years of experience. The new tool requires users to fill out a standardized maternal-perinatal medical form. Local and national databases can then develop based on information acquired through these forms to specifically address the needs of its users. By tracking this information, medical experts can better develop guides to effectively prevent, diagnose, and treat women and children in their geographic area during the pandemic. It also has a free information system (SIP Plus) with a dynamic platform that can be embedded in any other system and also offers the possibility of working online or offline.
