Tunisia: Expert mission by WHO to support pandemic response

19 November 2020

As part of the COVID-19 pandemic response, a team of experts from the WHO's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) carried out a six-day mission in Tunisia. The mission’s goal was to support the response to the epidemic in priority areas.

The delegation was led by Dr Rana Hajjeh, Director of Programme Management at EMRO, accompanied by five WHO technical experts primarily responsible for health emergencies, communicable and noncommunicable diseases, risk communication and community engagement.

During the mission, WHO teams worked closely with their counterparts in the Ministry of Health to assess the situation, identify challenges and make recommendations.

This visit began with a first meeting at the Ministry of Health and continued with visits to various health facilities. Each visit was followed by a situation assessment meeting.

An evaluation report and recommendations were presented to the Minister of Health at the end of the mission.
