After declaring a national emergency in response to the spread of coronavirus , the Government of Thailand reached out to WHO to help address its shortage of medical supplies. WHO, working in tandem with the U.S., shipped gloves, surgical gowns, goggles and face shields to health workers in Thailand. “These supplies are essential in protecting our health care workers against COVID-19,” said Dr. Danial Kertesz, WHO’s Representative in Thailand. The equipment came from a global stockpile of medicines and medical supplies WHO oversees, which is supported by USAID.
