New app to access WHO's voluntary medical male circumcision guidelines and resources

WHO VMMC app provides access to up to date Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention guidelines and resources from WHO's Global HIV, Hepatitis and STIs Programmes. WHO VMMC app makes it quicker and easier to view the guidance on smartphones and tablets, online or off, everywhere and at any time.

Guidelines

These new guidelines update earlier WHO recommendations to maximize the HIV prevention impact of safe VMMC services and to guide the sustained provision of services with a focus on the health and well-being of both adolescent boys and men.

Policy brief

The Policy brief provides a summary of updated recommendations and key considerations.

Content here includes summary of updated recommendations and key considerations, use of device-based methods for male circumcision, issues and key considerations regarding voluntary medical male circumcision for younger adolescent boys, enhancing uptake among adult men and adolescent boys and sustaining services with a focus on adolescent boys.

Resources

Resources include:

1. Manual for male circumcision under local anesthesia and HIV prevention services for adolescent boys and men.

2. Progress briefs by year, from 2015 – 2019 provide data and key highlights on VMMC in HIV prevention programmes.

3. TeleECHO™ sessions lays out materials for guideline dissemination and discussions for resolving challenges and delivering solutions for VMMC guidelines. The WHO TeleECHO™ Sessions are available as Presentation PDF’s and Video Recordings.
