Today, the World Health Organization celebrates the one-year online launch anniversary of the groundbreaking Training in Assistive Products (TAP). Designed to equip primary healthcare personnel with the knowledge and skills to provide simple assistive products across six functional areas including mobility, self-care, and vision; TAP has reached over 3700 registered users in 130 countries since its launch.

Twelve online modules are available including Introduction to Assistive Products, walking aids, reading glasses, and absorbent products, and with new modules being published in the coming months; TAP is growing! One TAP learner shared:

“This is an amazing platform to learn about assistive technology; with very informative and interactive modules.”

Assistive products enable people to live healthy, productive, and independent lives. With more than 2.5 billion people currently in need of one or more assistive products and the number expected to rise; providing training to primary healthcare personnel is now more important than ever. After participating in TAP, one learner in Tajikistan said:

“Before, we only saw the symptoms of the disease. Now, after the TAP training, we look from a different angle and start asking if that person’s functionality is okay or if they might benefit from any assistive products or any adjustments in their environment to make their life easier.”

Register for TAP today and learn more about assistive products' life-changing impact.
