The Health and Energy Platform of Action (HEPA) was launched at the 72nd World Health Assembly on Tuesday 21 May 2019. The Platform aims to strengthen the political and technical cooperation between the health and energy sectors at both global and country levels to accelerate the transition to clean energy, with an initial focus on clean cooking and health care facilities. Strong support was expressed for the implementation of the Platform’s objectives, which will contribute to better health, well-being and economic growth.

It was our great honour to have H.M. Queen Letizia of Spain, H.E. Hajia Samira Bawumia, Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, several Ministers and Vice-Ministers of Health and Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors and other high-level representatives of governments, international organizations and civil society. The initiative is co-led by WHO and UNDP, along with other key stakeholders such as the World Bank, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Sustainable Energy for All, the United Nations Foundation and the Clean Cooking Alliance.
