WHO has made available the membership of the Guidelines Development Group (GDG) for the update of the WHO "Consolidated Guidelines for use of antiretrovirals for preventing and treating HIV infection." These guidelines will be updated with relevant WHO guidance released since 2016 and also include new recommendations.
The virtual meeting of the service delivery GDG will be held from 5 – 9 October 2020. The objective of this Guidelines meeting is to formulate recommendations on:
- Starting ART safely outside of the Health Facility;
- Co-interventions that improve acceptability of starting antiretroviral therapy on the same day;
- HIV/TB diagnosis and linkage to treatment;
- Frequency of clinic visits and frequency of ART dispensing;
- Reengagement in care;
- Measuring adherence to treatment;
- Integration of care for: HIV and noncommunicable disease; HIV and family planning services;
- Psychosocial support interventions for adolescents and young people living with HIV;
- Specimen collection and performance of diagnostic tests by lay providers; and
- Diagnostic integration across HIV, TB, hepatitis, and STIs.
In line with WHO policy on conflict of interest, members of the public and interested organizations can access the biographies of the GDG members and inform WHO of their views about them. All comments should be sent by email to hiv-aids@who.int by 2 October 2020.
