Schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases: number of people treated in 2018

Overview

In 2018, 95.3 million people (76.2 million SAC and 19.1 million adults) received PC for schistosomiasis, and 576.4 million children that required PC were treated for STH (120.1 million pre-SAC, 456.3 million SAC). In 2018, 152.3 million women of reproductive age were treated with albendazole in programmes for lymphatic filariasis (LF) elimination. In addition, an estimated 17 million pregnant women were dewormed in maternal and child health services.10 In relation to the targets of the NTD roadmap, the coverage of SAC with PC was 61.2% for schistosomiasis and 59.9% for STH; coverage of pre-SAC with PC for STH was 38.7%
