Institutionalizing health technology assessment mechanisms: a how to guide

Overview

It is increasing apparent that countries are finding it difficult  to finance their universal health coverage goals.  They must generate more health for the resource spent by improving the efficiency of spending. Health technology assessment is one approach to ensuring  that evidence informed decisions are made, and  that health funds are used wisely.   This How-to  operational guide was prepared for countries that have already made the decision that they need a mechanism for health technology assessment (HTA).  The guide is designed to be extremely practical, with checklists to support implementation in each chapter.
