Department of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and ageing

Overview

This document outlines the strategic directions for the Department of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and ageing for 2023-2030. Despite global efforts, we are off track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the specific 2030 targets for maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (MNCAH) and well-being. While significant progress has been made since 2000, gains have been slow and uneven, and were further destabilized by the COVID-19 pandemic. This document describes the vision, mission and function of the Department and strategic shifts to overcome challenges in reducing mortality and improving well-being to ultimately achieve the SDG goals.
