Enhanced Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Programme (EGASP): surveillance report 2023
15 November 2024
| Technical document

Overview
The WHO Enhanced Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Programme (EGASP) was established to overcome the limitations of the original GASP framework and to enhance sentinel surveillance of gonococcal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in selected countries. EGASP operates under a comprehensive protocol published in 2021, allowing participating countries to customize its implementation to fit their unique contexts. The programme is also closely aligned with the WHO Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS).
This report details the primary outcomes of EGASP surveillance activities conducted from January to December 2023.
