WHO Global Network of National Quality Control Laboratories for Pharmaceuticals: first meeting report, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1-3 October 2024

Overview
The first annual meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network of Quality Control Laboratories for Pharmaceuticals (WHO-GNP) was organized by the WHO Laboratory Networks and Services team, Regulation and Safety Unit, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during the period 1–3 October 2024. Participants from countries of all six WHO regions attended the meeting, representing quality control laboratories and national regulatory authorities in Bangladesh, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, China, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Honduras, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, the United Republic of Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, Viet Nam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Also in attendance were members of the National Institute for Quality Control in Health of Brazil, staff members of the Pan American Health Organization/WHO office in Brazil, WHO staff members from headquarters and WHO temporary advisers.
