Report of the tenth meeting of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of Experts for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition, 12–14 Nov 2024

Overview

This is the report from the tenth meeting (12-14 November 2024 ) of the strategic and technical advisory group of experts (STAGE) in maternal newborn child and adolescent health and nutrition. Report provides a summary of the proceedings, recommendations and guidance provided by STAGE.

Technical topics included gender responsive actions for MCA, mental health integration into maternal and child health programs, guidelines on the use of nutritional supplements during antenatal care, WHO urban health tools, implementation guidance for midwifery models of care. Updates were provided on maternal newborn and stillbirth transition model, framework for newborn screening, diagnosis and management of birth defects, implementation guidance for child health and well-being, life course framework, and kangaroo mother care practice guide. In addition, summary of the partner forum discussion are also included.
