Tracking global progress on preparedness for respiratory pandemics: 2023 report

Overview

In alignment with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Framework for tracking global progress on preparedness for respiratory pandemics, this 2023 progress report provides an annual snapshot of the status of functional capacities required for effective respiratory pandemic preparedness. Thirteen indicators across five capacity areas—emergency coordination, collaborative surveillance, community protection, clinical care, and access to countermeasures—were collated using data from sources identified in the Framework’s indicator compendium. The report aims to support strategic planning and implementation by highlighting areas of progress and identifying opportunities to further strengthen capacities at global and regional levels.
