Overview
Following an extensive evidence review on the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical forms of Artemisia conducted in 2019, WHO has issued a position statement clearly stating that it does not support the promotion or use of Artemisia plant material in any form for the prevention or treatment of malaria. The aim of this technical document is: to explain the WHO position in detail; to review the evidence on the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical forms of Artemisia; and to discuss the limitations specific to these herbal remedies.
