Overview
Heating water to a rolling boil, as recommended in the WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality (GDWQ), is sufficient to inactivate pathogenic bacteria, viruses and protozoa. This document provides the scientific basis for the WHO GDWQ recommendations on boiling as a water treatment method.
