Overview
This Special Issue on rabies presents the evidence reviews, modelling work, and in-country studies that informed the 2018 position paper update; and identifies programmatic needs and priority areas for future research. It emphasises the advantages of cost- and dose-saving intradermal rabies vaccination and explores ways to improve access to PEP for at-risk populations. This is an important foundation for improving reach and equitable access of people to quality healthcare worldwide and advocates for inclusion of rabies biologicals in Universal Health Coverage packages. We thank the many valued contributors, experts, researchers, countries and other stakeholders who made this work possible.
