3rd Meeting of the One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP) of Term II

Overview

The One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP) convened with the Quadripartite partners (FAO, UNEP, WHO and WOAH) for the third full panel meeting of Term 2, held on 19 – 20 February 2025, to review the progress of OHHLEP deliverables and reinforce alignment with the partners’ joint objectives for implementing the One Health Joint Plan of Action (OH JPA).

Key objectives of this meeting included:

  • The Quadripartite partners sharing updates with OHHLEP members on the collaborative work related to the four joint strategic priorities of the JPA implementation.
  • Allowing progress through collaborative work session, on the Enablers and Barriers of the OH JPA implementation – A deliverable lead by OHHLEP and aimed at identifying and addressing the key enablers that facilitate, and the barriers that hinder, effective One Health implementation.
  • Sharing updates on the ongoing inventory of One Health relevant international legal instruments.
  • Discussing the development of guidance for the use of the One Health inventory of tools, initially developed by OHHLEP in Term 1.

The meeting fostered constructive dialogue across these areas, reinforcing OHHLEP’s advisory role to the Quadripartite and its mandate to bridge science and policy for an effective One Health implementation. Participants emphasized the importance of aligning technical deliverables, strategic communication and regional engagement to ensure that practical guidance is provided to countries.
