Overview
On 24–25 June 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals convened a technical consultation of experts to consider the state of the science on immune correlates of protection for malaria. Experts reviewed the current landscape of research on correlates of protection for malaria and discussed the potential use of immunological data in place of a clinical malaria outcome in specific malaria vaccine research studies, including a half-dose regimen of RTS,S/ AS01 (RTS,S) and interchangeability studies on the mixed use of RTS,S and R21/Matrix-M (R21).
