Access and Health expenditure for Ethnic/Racial Groups in the Region of the Americas
Background Paper, 46
8 April 2010
| Technical document

Overview
The Region of the Americas exhibits a high degree of inequality when comparing the indicators of different countries and analyzing health information disaggregated by social determinants such as ethnicity and race within countries. Some 43% of Latin America’s population lives below the poverty line. Studies from several sources coincide in the view that certain ethnic/racial groups are over-represented among the disadvantaged.
