Overview

The African Region (AFRO) carries the highest burden of public health emergencies globally, and from July 2022 to June 2023 the AFRO region responded to an average of 152 public health events each week. These emergencies often severely impact vulnerable populations, strain fragile healthcare systems, disrupt essential health services, and threaten the economy.
