Commitments made at the first high-level meeting to defeat meningitis by 2030

Overview

On 26 April 2024, the World Health Organization held its first high-level meeting to defeat meningitis, hosted by the Government of France under the high patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. The event took place at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

This landmark meeting served as a global call to action to increase awareness and accelerate the implementation of the Defeating Meningitis by 2030 Road Map. New data was presented on the investments required to prevent cases, reduce long-lasting sequalae, and save lives.

The gathering brought together a broad coalition of stakeholders—including governments, partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector—who pledged their support and made concrete commitments to help defeat meningitis. The meeting emphasized the importance of collective action in driving progress toward the 2030 goals.
