Mapping of the global reference list of core health indicators to the WHO-FIC reference classifications

Overview

This file shows one approach for connecting core health indicators with the World Health Organization's classifications ICD, ICF and ICHI. It focuses on health indicators related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2018. The method was manual mapping to link these indicators to the WHO's Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC).

Strong link are shown between SDG and WHO-FIC classifications. 97% of the core health indicators and SDGs can be identified using codes from at least one WHO-FIC classification. Additionally, 92% of these allow for multiple classification options. This is an important step in improving measuring and tracking health indicators. It also helps refine the classifications themselves.

Overall, this mapping lays a strong foundation for better health information systems. These systems are crucial for successfully working towards the SDGs.
