Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources: International Basic Safety Standards
12 December 2014
| Technical document

Overview
These Standards apply the IAEA Safety Fundamentals: Fundamental Safety Principles (SF-1) , which includes a statement of the fundamental safety objective and a unified set of principles representing a common safety philosophy across all areas of application of the IAEA safety standards. The fundamental safety objective of protecting people — individually and collectively — and the environment from harmful effects of ionizing radiation has to be achieved without unduly limiting the operation of facilities or the conduct of activities that give rise to radiation risks.
