Overview
SADC Member States have made significant progress towards the attainment of their key health indicators over the last decade, however, the biggest challenge for ensuring equitable access to health for all is the persistent shortage and availability of skilled health and social care workers across the region, and the sub-optimal utilization and efficiency of the existing workforce. SADC Member States’ total population of 345.2 million as of 2018 is estimated to be growing at an average rate of 2.5% annually, placing extra demands on the health systems.
