Overview
To better understand and respond to the urgent challenges that countries are facing in terms of the impact on health systems caused by recent suspensions and reductions in health official development assistance (ODA), WHO conducted a rapid stock take with 108 of its country offices during 7 March–2 April 2025. The rapid stock take gathered insights from a targeted set of WHO offices across all six WHO regions, predominantly in lower and lower-middle income countries, territories and areas receiving health ODA. This presentation includes a summary of global findings based on the perspectives of senior WHO country office staff. The findings offer a snapshot of the situation in countries on the current extent of suspended or reduced health ODA, the major impacts across health systems, and the measures that countries are taking to mitigate the shorter- and longer-term impacts on the health of populations.
