WHO rabies data reporting template

Overview

Surveillance data – underpinned by effective country reporting and surveillance systems - is critical to evaluate progress of national rabies control and elimination campaigns and achieve our global goal of zero human deaths by 2030.

WHO supports and promotes integrated reporting systems for human and animal rabies surveillance. Integrated, quality data is key to:

  • Understand rabies disease burden, and the impact of interventions
  • Build awareness of rabies, and inform policy decisions
  • Accurately forecast vaccine, immunoglobulin, and other resourcing needs
  • Measure progress towards global rabies elimination
  • This also supports broader WHO initiatives to integrate existing disease specific surveillance activities into a more efficient and sustainable health information system.

We invite countries to actively participate in this global effort by nominating a National Focal Point and sharing their rabies surveillance data, using this template.
