WHO SEAnetNCD was formulated as an informal platform for the institutes of the countries in the South East Asia Region to work collaboratively to advance the NCD agenda in the Region and to share knowledge and experiences among institutions. The SEAnetNCD comprise six thematic networks formed under the themes of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, cancer registry, childhood cancer, oral health, palliative care and NCD capacity building and the number of members in each vary from 9-15 representing several of the countries from the Region.
The second meeting of the WHO SEAnetNCD was held on 30th November, virtually and was attended by 36 participants from all six networks. Each network presented an account of the work being done with the output so far, and plans for expansions. WHO Regional office highlighted the focus areas of WHO at resent related to the themes. The SEAnetNCD members agreed to collaborate to generate and test the emerging evidence on NCD management to advance the NCD agenda; identify priority interventions that work in countries and to demonstrate their impact; and use SEAnetNCD as a platform to share learnings and resources as way forward to be more impactful as a platform to contribute to the NCD Agenda in the Region.
