Medication errors are a leading cause of avoidable harm in health care systems.
The Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka celebrated the World Patient safety Day 2022 in collaboration with the WHO, with the slogan Medication without Harm. An island-wide competition was held and best practices for preventing medication-related harms by improving the health system and practice among health care professionals were rewarded.
The Honorable Minister of Health, Dr Keheliya Rambukawella, emphasized the importance to increase awareness among patients as well as training among health professionals to prevent medication-related harm.
WHO Sri Lanka stands ready for all future assistance needed to strengthen patient safety and quality in health service delivery.
