The COVAX AMC is a mechanism that will support the participation of 92 lower-income economies, ensuring equitable access to the most at-risk everywhere in the world – regardless of their ability to pay. All COVAX AMC (Advance Market Commitment Countries) including Sri Lanka must complete the following preparedness steps to in order to receive the vaccines:

  • Participants must sign an indemnity agreement with the manufacturer in order to receive deliveries of particular vaccines through the COVAX.
  • Participating countries need to issue (and provide proof of issuance) of any national regulatory authorization, or proof of recognition or reliance on another type of regulatory approval, as well as an import license provision for relevant vaccine products to the respective procurement agency.
  • AMC participants are encouraged to periodically review their National Deployment and Vaccination Plans (NDVP), upload onto the COVID-19 Partners Platform and validated by the Ministry of Health (MOH) focal point.

There are NO conditionalities specific to Sri Lanka for receiving the COVAX vaccines. WHO Country Office is actively engaged with the Ministry of Health and the country has already submitted the necessary documents to secure the latest allocation, as communicated in a letter from COVAX to the Honorable Minister dated 10 June 2021.
