About us
The Clinical Unit provides technical expertise to set and operationalize standards for case management during health emergencies. Its work begins with health care readiness; and includes infection prevention, optimized clinical care and clinical operations, and advancing clinical research and innovation in order to bring life-saving interventions to the front-line.
The Clinical unit facilitates and contributes in setting and implementation of clinical standards throughout the full cycle of health emergencies through the coordination of groups of subject-matter experts and the fast-tracking of evidence and guidance. The team is also responsible for the management of EDCARN - a pool of expert clinicians to be deployed during outbreaks for technical support, training and mentoring of the local, national and international health workforce.

EDCARN strengthens the essential link among front-line health workers, global clinical experts and researchers to provide technical expertise at the clinical interface of EIDs, contributing to the capacity of clinicians worldwide to detect and treat these diseases safely and effectively.
