1st WHO Ethics and Policy Summit
On 6 December 2021, the WHO Heath Ethics and Governance Unit in collaboration with the WHO’s Working Group on Ethics & COVID-19 and the ACT-Accelerator Ethics & Governance Working Group held the first WHO Pandemic Ethics and Policy Summit, convening policymakers, public health and ethics experts from across the globe to discuss how much progress has been made to address the profound ethical challenges raised by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Objectives
- examine and reflect upon the role of ethics in policymaking during the COVID-19 pandemic;
- discuss models and examples of successes and failures of ethical translation into policymaking; and
- identify the steps we need to take to improve ethical uptake into public health decision making for pandemic preparedness and response.
