The Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals department is responsible for targeting vaccine-preventable diseases, guiding immunization research and establishing immunization policy.
Regional Technical Advisory Groups on Immunization (RITAGs)
Technical Advisory Groups on Immunization have been established in each of the six WHO regions – Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Europe, South-East Asia and the Western Pacific. While the names of the committees in the regions differ, the functions are very similar. They provide WHO Regional Directors and countries in the respective regions with recommendations on regional immunization priorities and strategies in the light of regional epidemiological and social issues.

- Eastern Mediterranean: Regional Technical Advisory Group
- Europe: European Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE)
- South-east Asian region: SEAR-ITAG
- Western-pacific region: Technical Advisory Group on Immunization and Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in the Western Pacific Region
