Consultations

The World Report is an opportunity to frame action on social determinants of health equity as crucial to recovery and reconstruction from the current COVID-19 pandemic, alongside achieving shared wellbeing and the Sustainable Development Goal targets by 2030.

The development of the World Report is itself an opportunity to reinvigorate the social movement working on this task, bringing in new stakeholders, and strengthening the resolve and capacity of those already committed to reducing health inequities. As part of the process of developing the World Report, WHO has engaged in a series of consultations with partners and network, including with civil society groups such as the NCD Alliance, UN partners such as the UN Collaboration on Social Protection, technical networks such as The International Association of National Public Health Institutes, and through side events at the 10th Global Conference on Health Promotion, the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, and the World Health Assembly.

These consultations have had the following objectives:

Short-term objectives:

  • To listen to perspectives and experiences from work on social determinants of health equity in different sectors to inform the content of the World Report
  • To develop an engaged constituency that will support, contribute to, and disseminate the World Report upon its launch.

Medium-term objective:

  • To build the coalition to implement action on social determinants of health equity over the next decade, drawing from the World Report’s recommendations and agenda for action.
