Integrated care for older people: ICOPE
Overview
The world’s population is ageing at a fast pace. By 2050 one in five people will be over 60. The number of aged over 80 is projected to triple from 143 million in 2019 to 426 million in 2050. Rapid population ageing requires a transformation of health and social care systems to enable the delivery of integrated and person-centered care that responds to older people’s health and care needs, goals, and preferences. To support this transformation, WHO developed the integrated care for older people (ICOPE) approach.
