Angela Pratt – WHO Representative, Viet Nam
Dr Angela Pratt took up the role of WHO Representative in Viet Nam on 3 October 2022.
Angela has over 15 years experience in international public health and national health policy-making, with particular expertise in health policy, strategy and communications, and non-communicable disease prevention and control.
Before moving to the WHO Viet Nam Country Office, Angela was the Director of the Office of the Regional Director, and Director of Communications and External Relations in WHO’s Western Pacific Regional Office, based in Manila. In this role she led
the development of the WHO Western Pacific Region’s Communication for Health (C4H) program. Angela first joined WHO in 2012, in WHO’s China
Country Office in Beijing, where she led the WHO's work on tobacco control in China for over 4 years.
Previously, Angela was Chief of Staff to the former Minister for Health (2008-2011) in her home country of Australia, during which time she was closely involved in delivering Australia's world-first tobacco plain packaging laws, along with a range of other reforms to the Australian health system.
Angela holds a BA (Hons) and PhD in Sociology and Politics from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Liverpool, UK. She is married with twin daughters.
