Global Health Learning Centre
The WHO Western Pacific Region Global Health Learning Centre (GHLC) Programme was established in 2014 to provide mid-level government health officials with opportunities to enhance their competencies, expand their knowledge and skills in public health, and enable them to engage in global health discussions on international platforms.
Fellows participate in a variety of sessions, including technical sessions on global health topics and management and leadership building sessions. These sessions are facilitated by experienced experts from within and beyond WHO.
Throughout the programme, fellows develop their abilities to:
- Enhance their knowledge and competencies to effectively understand and address global health issues.
- Build leadership and management capacity to drive health systems improvement at the country level.
- Acquire essential skill sets for policy planning and implementation, including communication, data analysis and interpretation, and English language proficiency.
Additionally, the programme fosters strong networks among Member States, creating a collaborative environment for future partnerships. Upon completion, fellows are expected to contribute to technical discussions in international settings and support the development of their country’s health system.
