Maternal and child health, Hospital quality and Patient safety

WHO seeks to strengthen health systems and to cultivate enabling environments where skilled health professionals provide safe and quality health services, accessible to all, including for reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent and safe and affordable surgery.

The vision of WHO in the Western Pacific Region and globally is:

  • A healthy start for every newborn
  • An end to preventable deaths for women and children
  • That all births are wanted
  • Women of reproductive age, mothers, children and adolescents have access to quality care when needed, are supported to make evidence-informed decisions, and are protected from misleading information, coercion, violence and injury.
  • All health services provided are safe and optimal
  • Surgical and anesthetic services are safe and affordable
