Overview
Papua New Guinea has one of highest maternal mortality rates in the world. To reverse trends, the World Health Organization (WHO) worked with partners to produce a pilot episode of the programme "It Takes A Village". A Communication for Health (C4H) initiative, the programme seeks to directly address the behaviours of both men and women for care-seeking of family planning, antenatal care and supervised birth delivery, and shift community attitudes around the prioritization of maternal health. Following the production of the pilot episode and it’s nationwide screening, WHO undertook an evaluation of the efficacy of the programme’s messaging. This publication provides the findings from viewing panels conducted for both men and women in Papua New Guinea.
