This expert group will play a pivotal role in reimagining how innovation can be strategically positioned to serve public health effectively.

The WHO Regional Office for Europe has established the Technical Advisory Group on Building an Innovation Ecosystem for Public Health (TAG-BIEFPH) to address the complex health challenges facing the European Region. This expert group will play a pivotal role in reimagining how innovation can be strategically positioned to serve public health effectively.

Key objectives

The TAG-BIEFPH has the following objectives:

  • conduct comprehensive policy analysis for innovation in public health;
  • identify and scale up impactful public health innovations;
  • assess country capacity needs for innovation;
  • explore and recommend governance and financing mechanisms for public health innovation;
  • develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks; and
  • provide strategic recommendations for the development of a strategy for harnessing health innovation in the Region

Composition

The TAG-BIEFPH comprises 15 leading experts from diverse backgrounds, including policy analysis, innovation ecosystem development, health economics, public health, impact investing, and government decision-making. The group represents a balanced mix of skills, geographic distribution, and gender across the WHO European Region.
