THE PEP Partnerships

THE PEP Partnerships bring together Member States and intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, who have shared interests in collaborating on specific issues, to develop common strategies, plans and projects, and achieve concrete results.

THE PEP Partnerships members share good practices, strengthen their capacities, and benefit from mutual support in implementing THE PEP at a national and pan-European level. To join THE PEP Partnerships or to request further information, please contact THE PEP secretariat at thepep@un.org.

Current partnerships include the following:

  • Partnership on Health Economic Assessment Tools (HEAT). Led by WHO, it supports the development of guidance and practical tools for estimating the economic value of the health impacts of regular walking or cycling.
  • Partnership on Healthy Active Mobility. This joint partnership between THE PEP and European Environment and Health Process (EHP) supports the implementation of the Pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion and the development of a Pan-European Master Plan on Active Mobility.
  • Partnership on Child- and Youth-friendly Mobility. This encourages youth to implement the Vienna Declaration, creates opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and good practices, and develops guidelines, toolboxes and a summary of good practices. It also aims at creating a pan-European master plan on child-and youth-friendly mobility.
  • Partnership on the Integration of Transport, Health and Environmental Objectives into Urban and Spatial Planning. This facilitates debate and research on the integration of transport, health and environmental objectives into policies for urban and spatial planning.
  • Partnership on Jobs in Green and Healthy Transport. This stimulates debate and a shared understanding about jobs in green and healthy transport, analysing the potential for greening “old” jobs and creating new “green jobs” in transport and mobility, and assessing the qualitative and quantitative impacts on the environment, health, transport and the economy.
  • Partnership on Eco-Driving. This disseminates knowledge and good practices about eco-driving and its implementation. It also promotes the development of harmonized criteria for certification schemes and training materials for trainers and driving schools, and develops approaches to assess the effectiveness of eco-driving. By reducing gas emissions, improving safety on the road, and reducing congestion, eco-driving benefits both health and the environment.
  • Partnership on Sustainable Tourism Mobility. This raises awareness on and aims to achieve sustainable tourism mobility at the national and international levels. It also aims at strengthening cooperation among stakeholders at national and local levels and contributing to the development of climate-friendly, convenient, and attractive mobility services and offers for tourists and local people.
