Capacity building
Under the headline of LEARN BCI, WHO is offering several training opportunities for Member States:
- online training modules with self-paced multimedia training and facilitated online group discussions;
- face-to-face LEARN BCI school offering a variety of plenary presentations, facilitated discussions and case-based practice working sessions;
- in-country face-to-face trainings to collaborate on BCI implementation projects; and
- in-country support to establish a BCI Unit or increase capacity on BCI for health within public health authorities.
LEARN BCI applies an interdisciplinary and evidence-based approach. We draw on a variety of disciplines, including behavioural science and economics, anthropology, sociology and cultural studies. The trainings aim to introduce BCI-related theoretical models that can be used to explore the barriers and drivers of health behaviours and frameworks that help to translate this insight into evidence-based health policies, services and communication.
LEARN BCI enrols 100–150 participants each year. It was developed in response to a call from Member States for increased capacity building on BCI for health (Resolution EUR/RC72/R1).
