Evidence dissemination
To share evidence, lessons learned and case examples, we have developed the knowledge hub for behavioural and cultural insights into health – or BCI-Hub for short.
The BCI-Hub was designed to share and showcase evidence and good practice related to BCI and to bring together content from past, present and future projects, created by both WHO and external partners. The site showcases evidence related to a continuously expanding number of focus areas, such as mental health, vaccination and health literacy.
BCI refers to exploring the factors that affect health behaviours and using this insight to improve the outcomes of health policies, services and communication. BCI draws on disciplines such as behavioural science and economics, anthropology, sociology and cultural studies. By adding the cultural facet to behavioural insights, we wish to highlight the importance of the sociocultural context, systems and structures alongside individual factors when assessing and addressing health behaviours.
The BCI-Hub was developed and is maintained by the University of Exeter’s WHO Collaborating Centre for Culture and Health in partnership with the Behavioural and Cultural Insights Unit at WHO/Europe.
