WHO held a global webinar on the 2024 Guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment for people with chronic hepatitis B infection.
The webinar provides a technical briefing on the recommendations and rationale for expanded treatment eligibility for adults and adolescents, expanded antiviral prophylaxis for prevention of mother-to-child transmission, antiviral regimens, use of point-of-care HBV DNA assays and reflex testing, who to test and how to test for Delta co-infection, monitoring for treatment response, and approaches for simplified service delivery. Additional topics include access to HBV diagnostics and drugs, community perspectives and status of implementation across the regions.
Translations into French, Spanish and Russian will be made available on the website soon.
