Swiss marathon champion Tadesse Abraham will be a special guest at the Walk the Talk: Health for All Challenge event on 22 May in Geneva, and give keen athletes the chance to join him in a masterclass of running over 4.2 kilometers, starting at Place des Nations at 9am.
“I am looking forward to taking part in my second Walk the Talk event. It is a great way to enjoy the benefit of sport and physical activity for health, and at the same time to advocate for the need for all people to have access to health,” said Tadesse, who took part in the 2019 edition.
Tadesse, who was born in Eritrea, came to Geneva as a refugee in 2004. Since then, he has developed into one of the world’s leading marathon runners, and just last month broke the Swiss marathon record.
"You do not need to be a champion athlete to benefit from sports. People can be physically active in many ways, from running and walking to practicing yoga, he added. The World Health Organization aims to encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle and I share this vision.”
Runners in Geneva keen to keep up with Tadesse have the opportunity to do so during the Walk the Talk event, which officially opens at 8.30am at Place des Nations before participants are invited to start walking, using a wheelchair, or, in Tadesse’s case, run at 9am.
