The data visualization compares health ODA by donor country as a % of GNI (bottom chart, left) and as a % of all ODA (bottom chart, right). Weighted averages are provided by WHO region and country income group (top charts).
Points to note:
- The weighted regional averages are derived from the 32 Member States for which data are available. They need to be interpreted cautiously because of the number of missing observations.
- On average, the Eastern Mediterranean’ donor countries have the highest % (0.04%) of health ODA as a % of GNI (top chart, left) while the Americas’ have the highest health ODA (5.7%) as a % of all ODA (top chart, right) for the reported period and countries compared to other regions.
To explore by country estimates and differences with regional averages (the regional average is symbolized by vertical dashed line):
- Select a region in the top two charts to filter countries according to those categories. For example:
-- Selecting only the Americas region (in either the top right or left charts), shows that Canada (of the two countries in that region reporting data in that period) exceeded the regional average (0.01%) both for health ODA as a % of GNI (Canada: 0.02%) and health ODA as a % of total ODA (Canada: 8.4%).
-- Selecting only Europe (in either the top right or left charts), shows that of the four countries exceeding the regional average of 0.01 for health ODA as % of GNI (bottom chart, left) Norway and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland allocated the highest shares of health ODA as % of GNI with 0.04% and 0.3% respectively. United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland had the highest ODA as % of total ODA (4.5%; bottom chart, right), also exceeding the regional average of 1.99%. - Hover the cursor on a bar in a graphic to see more information in a popup window.
