Monitoring R&D activities

This section brings together data from global data sources that allow health R&D activities to be monitored, with a description of the scope and limitations for each set of data.
Tableau software was used for the analysis, allowing interactive and user customized data visualization and examination. Sources used for these analyses are described in the Databases section, under Databases and resources.
The Analyses and syntheses section of the Observatory draws on these data and other available disease-specific evidence (e.g. from reports) to discuss them in comprehensive reviews.
Monitoring of R&D activities is organized under the three categories below.
Inputs to R&D
Funding flows for health R&D by disease
Product related health R&D for neglected diseases (G-FINDER)
- by disease, year and funding category
- by country, funder, recipient organizations and other breakdown
- by source and type of funding
